18'' inch horn, ferrite magnet, designed for high SPL subwoofer applications in a reflex, bandpass or horn loaded configuration, glass fiber reinforced straight fluted cone, high displacement suspension system, 4'' inch inner-outer copper voice coil, impedance: 8 ohms, rated power: 1300 watts, continuous power: 2600 watts, sensitivity: 97 dB, frequency range: 30 – 2500 Hz, weight: 12.4 kg.
The 18LW2420 is an 18" extended low-frequency loudspeaker designed for high SPL subwoofer applications in a reflex, bandpass, or horn-loaded configuration. Compared to our industry standard 18LW2400, the 18LW2420 provides a higher maximum APL, increased program power handling, and reduced power compression. For optimal results, we recommend amplifiers capable of delivering 2600 watts of program power without clipping. Transducer design features include a large-displacement suspension system, coupled with a glass-reinforced, straight-fluted cone, to enable ultra-linear piston action and provide full mechanical control throughout the entire working range. The 100 mm (4") inside-outside copper voice coil based on Interleaved Sandwich Voice coil (ISV) technology, provides high levels of thermal stability and durability. To further increase power handling and reduce the power compression figure, the 18LW2420 utilizes the same voice-coil venting technology developed for our flagship 9000 Series neodymium transducers. A low-density E material air diffractor has been placed on the backplate to act as a cooling system, increasing power handling capability and reducing the power compression figure. The 18LW2420’s low distortion and unrivaled sound quality are significantly enhanced by the unique demodulation ring (SDR) integrated into the pole piece of the magnet structure. These have been designed to reduce intermodulation and harmonic distortion while improving transient response. The magnet structure has been optimized using advanced CAD FEA simulation tools. The 18LW2420 can operate successfully in harsh weather conditions; the unique cone treatment improves pulp strength and imparts water-repellent properties on both sides of the cone. In addition, the special treatment applied to the top and back plates of the magnetic structure is much more resistant to the corrosive effects of salts and oxidation.
