Featuring an 88-key piano action, the GHS (Graded Hammer Standard) keyboard replicates the touch feel of an acoustic piano, from a naturally heavy feel in the lower octaves to a lighter feel in the upper octaves. The GHS keyboard provides a grand piano-style response and feel that enables rapid note repetition and authentic expressive control. There's also a damper/soft key function that authentically replicates the action of a grand piano damper/soft key, providing rich sound variation.

The damper/soft pedal reproduces the wide, deep sound field of an acoustic piano. It also reproduces the tonal changes that occur when a damper/soft pedal is pressed on grand pianos. It includes sounds like those produced by an acoustic keyboard and reproduces the acoustic resonance that occurs when all these sounds merge.

The YDP-105 gives you authentic concert grand piano sound along with other built-in instruments including electric piano, organ, vibraphone, and strings, giving you a total of 10 sounds, along with 10 well-known built-in classical songs.

The YDP-105 is also compatible with Yamaha’s free Smart Pianist app—download the app to your smart device and connect it to the instrument*.

The Smart Pianist app allows easy execution of various instrument sound functions and makes it easy to access a wide variety of sheet music, including sheet music for built-in songs. It also features a powerful Piano Room feature, which allows you to adjust the piano's tone and sound quality, as well as a recording function.
